The lake sparkles with its clean salty water as a pearl and you can see Tien Shan Mountains around it. It seems that Tien Shan Mountains keep the lake in its hands. The water is salty and it has curative qualities. That is why many people come to have a rest there in summer. There are many modern resorts and wild beaches around it.
Two thousand years ago the size of lake was smaller and there were some tribes who lived nearby. One day the water raised so fast that people did not have time to take everything away. And more than 40 villages stayed under the water...
Nowadays there are many underwater expeditions to explore the villages. The most famous village is Chigy. Many artifacts were found under the water of celestial Issyk Kul Lake. Now you can see them in our museums. Many facts about ancient life were discovered because of the things that were found in the lake.
